Wafts of alfalfa and grain floated out of the barn at breakfast time as the flashy Quarter Horse colt trotted about the round pen, letting loose little bursts of energy brought on by the crisp, morning air.
"He's a little fresh today," Kristyn laughed, reeling "RC" in on the longe line to start the session.
RC and Kristyn hail from Double Diamond Equestrian Center in Midland, Texas, and only recently made the move to Roanoke's Hidden Star Farm. Their journey is just starting, and Kristyn is taking things at RC's pace; they have plenty of years ahead of them to learn and grow together.
A bright-eyed and curious weanling, RC wasn't too sure about his first portrait session—extra primping, fancy halters, new locations and strange cameras—but Kristyn worked patiently to put him at ease. By the end of the session, he was quite the pro!
RC is one of the youngest portrait subjects I've had, and he's certainly one of the cutest!
Kristyn, I so enjoyed getting to know you better and capture these portraits of RC! It's going to be so cool to be able to look back on his weanling year as he grows! You are doing such a wonderful job with RC, and I can't wait to cheer you on as his training progresses.
